A young boy and his dad go fishing early in the morning. The characters are Vietnamese immigrants to the United States and they are fishing for food. While fishing, Bao's dad tells him about a different pond in Vietnam. Beautiful illustrations and a touching story of father and son. Winner of the Caldecott Honor in 2018.

Caleb Franklin and his big brother Bobby Gene are excited to have adventures in the woods behind their house. But Caleb dreams of venturing beyond their ordinary small town. The Chronicles of Harris Burdick by Chris VanAllsburg (and 14 authors)
Author Chris VanAllsburg wrote a picture book filled with mysterious pictures and a short explanation of what's going on in the picture. Now fourteen published authors (like Kate DiCamillo, Lemony Snicket and Linda Sue Park) have each written a short story to go along with the illustrations. It might inspire you to write a story of your own!
