Then Caleb and Bobby Gene meet new neighbor Styx Malone. Sixteen year old Styx promises the brothers that together, the three of them can pull off the Great Escalator Trade—exchanging one small thing for something better until they achieve their wildest dream. The Chronicles of Harris Burdick - ebook
The Chronicles of Harris Burdick by Chris VanAllsburg (and 14 authors)
Author Chris VanAllsburg wrote a picture book filled with mysterious pictures and a short explanation of what's going on in the picture. Now fourteen published authors (like Kate DiCamillo, Lemony Snicket and Linda Sue Park) have each written a short story to go along with the illustrations. It might inspire you to write a story of your own!
