What do I do with my library books?
With the school building now closed through the end of the school year, you might be wondering "What do I do with my Lawrence School library books?" Here's the answer:- Read them.
- Read them again! To your dog....or your brother....or your sister....or your goldfish!
- Then find a safe place for them. Someplace you'll remember when we go back to school. It might be a bag, a box, or a shelf.
- Please try to keep them separate from the books that you own.
- Plan to bring them back when we go back to Lawrence!
- Thank you! I appreciate your care with our library books!
Book Suggestions
Younger readers
Here's Hank series by Henry Winkler
Hank is a kid who doesn't try to be funny, but he somehow always makes the kids in his class laugh. He's pretty bad at memorizing stuff, and spelling is his worst subject. (But so are math and reading!) In the first book in this new series, Hank's class is putting on a play, and Hank wants the lead part! Several in the series are available as ebooks.
Middle grade readers
The Wild Robot by Peter Brown
When robot Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers that she is alone on a remote, wild island. She has no idea how she got there or what her purpose is—but she knows she needs to survive. After battling a fierce storm and escaping a vicious bear attack, she realizes that her only hope for survival is to adapt to her surroundings and learn from the island's unwelcoming animal inhabitants. This would be a great family read aloud. The sequel is The Wild Robot Escapes and both are available on Overdrive.
Upper grade readers
The Hired Girl by Laura Amy Schlitz
Over the summer of 1911, Joan, a fourteen year old girl, pours her heart out into her diary as she seeks a new, better life for herself—because maybe, just maybe, a hired girl cleaning and cooking for six dollars a week can become what a farm girl could only dream of—a woman with a future. She gets a job in the home of a wealthy family in Baltimore which opens her eyes to the future she could have. Available as an ebook on Overdrive.
